RE: N.C. Defense Fund Endorses Candidates for the 2010 Appellate Races

The N.C. Defense Fund, the political action committee of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys [NCADA], has endorsed the following appellate judicial candidates:
For Judge of the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the N.C. Defense Fund endorses:
For the Calabria Seat the NCDF endorses both candidates: Ann Marie Calabria and Jane P. Gray;
For the Wynn Seat the NCDF endorses two candidates: Mark E. Klass and J. Douglas McCullough

Earlier this year, the NCDF endorsed the following judicial candidates:

For NC Supreme Court - Brady Seat: Robert C. Hunter and Barbara A. Jackson;

For the NC Court of Appeals - Elmore Seat: Richard A. Elmore.

In making its decision, the N.C. Defense Fund considered numerous criteria, including:

• Substantial exposure to or appreciation of issues involved in civil litigation;
• Commitment to the evenhanded application of the rules governing our courts and the laws governing businesses and individuals;
• A judicial philosophy and approach to deciding cases that are consistent with the views and practice of NCADA members as a group;
• A good reputation in the legal community;
• A good record of judicial achievement or possession of the potential to be a good judge.

The North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys [NCADA] brings together civil trial attorneys to promote professionalism in the practice of law and the exchange of information, ideas, and litigation techniques. The NCADA works to strengthen the practice, to improve the skills, and to enhance the knowledge of lawyers defending individuals and businesses in civil litigation in North Carolina. Current membership stands at over 1,000 attorneys and paralegals from across the State.
